2024 SOCAL RAGNAR RELAY

April 12-13, 2024

In this multi-day event, our team of 12 will collectively run 200-ish miles. We’ll run day, night, and day again, sleep in vans, grassy fields, or maybe even a high school gym. When we’re not running or attempting to catch some ZZZ's, we'll be following our active runner in our decorated hype van, cheering them on, and gathering all the memories that come with a road trip as wild as this. When we reach the finish line, we’ll celebrate the whole ordeal as a team!

Sounds like a blast, right?! It gets even better when you know you are helping a good cause while you're doing it. Our goal this year is to raise $20,000 (per team.) As a team member you will commit to raising funds to support FaithQuest Missions and our partners spread the Gospel message and care for people in need around the world.

What Is Ragnar?

Since it's inception, FaithQuest Missions has been leading teams running the Ragnar Relay and it is still one of our favorite events! Hundreds of runners have joined us over the years and we have been able to raise thousands of dollars helping people in need all over the world, not to mention countless people being encouraged to pursue their relationship with God and what He has next for their lives... some of them even going into full-time ministry.

This year we are looking forward to running with YOU! Together we can make a difference for people all over the world with the funds we raise! We will train together, encourage one another, and explore how God wants to use this event to bring us closer to him in the process.

WHAT IS RAGNAR?

What happens when you combine spring time, palm trees, ocean views, running, and 12 adventurous friends? Only the biggest running party of the year! On Friday April 12, we'll start this 200-ish mile journey in San Diego and wind our way through world-famous cities like La Jolla, Encinitas and Cardiff-by-the-Sea. We'll bask in the peace and awe that only comes from seeing the ocean while running at night, and explore the gorgeous groves that gave Orange County its name. Then, you and your teammates will cross the new finish line in Huntington Beach where we'll join thousands of fellow runners, right on the beach, to celebrate our victory at one of our most epic finish line parties ever!

How It Works

HOW IT WORKS

Teams of 12

  • Pick a captain and collect your team of friends, family, or even strangers. Team members will take turns (relay-style) running 3 separate legs of the race ranging between 4 and 13 miles.

The Relay Part

  • Runner 1 starts the race and heads out to complete “Leg 1”. Meanwhile, Runner 2 is in a van headed to the exchange point. Runner 1 arrives, hands off to Runner 2, and so on.

Point A to Point B

Trek from one city or park to another city or park- exploring the local areas as you go.

200(ish) Miles

Each runner completes a total of 11-24 miles over the course of 2 days and 1 night. (Total distance depends on the course and what Runner # you are).

Okay, but why the fundraising?

And where does it go?

We love doing big things don't we?? We already love pushing our comfort zones and doing hard things so let's extend our comfort zone just a bit further to include getting out and telling friends, loved ones, neighbors, and maybe even your favorite barista what we are doing and asking them to join our efforts. For us, doing these big physical challenges for ourselves just isn't enough. We want to inspire, serve, and attract others to the love of Jesus Christ. We can be a huge example of that love by caring for those who are less fortunate than us!

Proceeds from the event go to support FaithQuest Missions and the work we do connecting with people in South Orange County and encouraging them to join us as we pursue Jesus Christ.

Here are just a few ways we connect with people...

  • Discovery Bible Studies

  • Prayer Cohort Studies

  • Movement Pathway Studies

  • Local and International Adventure Events

  • International Vision Trips

Additionally, we feel lead to donate funds raised to support the people of Ukraine through our partner, Novo Missions. Novo is on the ground in the region caring for peoples needs and sharing the Gospel message on a daily basis.

Here are a few ways we help people...

  • Provide shelter for refugees

  • Meet immediate needs like food and water

  • Emotional and spiritual support

  • Education for adults and children

  • Practical needs clothes and shoes

  • Sharing the Gospel message with refugees

Frequently Asked Questions

How far do I have to run?

Well... it varies. Over 3 separate legs you'll run between 12 and 23.1 miles. You can look at the Ragnar website and see the various legs and their locations.

Will I be running alone?

For the most part, no. And if so, not for long. The support van does its best to never be too far away and if needed/desired, someone will typically jump out and run with you for a while.

When/Where/Will we sleep?

I wouldn't plan to get much sleep during the event. If you do, it will likely be in the van while we are driving to the next destination. Think of it less as "getting sleep" and more as "taking a series of short naps."

What do I need to bring?

Here's a packing list that Ragnar put together that you can use as a guideline.

How do I collect support?

After registering, you will receive an email with instruction how to setup your fundraising webpage where your supporters will navigate to to make their donations. The page will track the donations made in your name toward your goal and we will handle the rest!

I'm not a runner, how can I help?

First of all, THANK YOU! There is a lot that goes into these races and we can use all the help we can get from volunteers. Please contact us directly and we can discuss where we might need you most!

If you have any questions, please reach out... we'd love to hear from you!

Our mission is to be a catalyst that inspires and encourages people from all walks of life to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
